Demand by Raj Babbar on legend’s death.
Raj Babbar recently spoke with IANS at Pawan Hans after Manoj Kumar was given a state farewell. Reflecting on the huge loss to the film industry, Babbar said, “We lost a gem today. Manoj Kumar’s contributions to Indian cinema were massive, especially his dedication to highlighting the dignity of India and paying tribute to the freedom fighters of our country through his work. He was not just an actor, but also a director and writer, and his films always carried the message of patriotism. He was a noble man, and his work made a place for him in people’s hearts.”
Babbar also recalled a personal moment from when he was working on the film Shaheed Uddham Singh. “I went to seek Manoj Kumar’s blessings before starting the project. I met him in Delhi and told him about the film. I said, ‘People immediately think of you when they think of our great freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. You’re the face of Bhagat Singh in cinema.’ He blessed me and said, ‘Raj, you’ll do very well.’ Later, when I showed him the rough cut, he loved it and suggested a few small editing changes.”
Babbar firmly believes that Manoj Kumar’s work, which focused on building the nation, deserves the highest recognition. “There’s no doubt that Manoj Kumar has worked towards strengthening the spirit of the nation. He definitely deserves to be honored with Bharat Ratna,” he concluded.
This tribute emphasizes not only Kumar’s remarkable career but also the lasting impact he left on both the film industry and the country.
